NO DETOX - NOT TRUE

Multiple people heard a SIHB rep that they won't be doing detox now, but, "doesn't mean they won't be in the future."

In many cases the will be doing detox whether they are permitted for it, or not:

It’s very common for addicts to tell themselves, “I’ll have one last high before I check in.” How will they know that each incoming patient is properly detoxed? None of these plans are made clear but is important information in determining zoning/permitting and if there are adequate medical services on on island to keep patients safe.

All facilities have drug drops, happens at every rehab. Family and friends and dealers drop drugs to patients inside the rehab and patients sneak drugs in via body cavities. (See Documentation)

Patients who are detoxing are also at greater risk of a psychotic break.  One expert said a person experiencing psychosis may run and run and not stop or try to hurt another person or themselves with suicidal ideation.

Patients who have experienced a period of abstinence, such as during incarceration, are at a higher risk of overdosing when they resume drug use, as the effects may be more intense than if they had not stopped at all. It is crucial for them to have access to a hospital in case of an overdose.
